Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still participate in the GenderCOS project?

At this stage, active participation in the consensus process is closed. We are incredibly grateful to all the lived experience experts and professionals who contributed to the development of the Core Outcome Sets (COS) for genital gender-affirming surgery. This phase focuses on clinical expert input for selecting the best tools to assess surgical outcomes. This process requires remarkable expertise in the field, which may not be easily accessible without specialized training.

I am a clinical or research expert in the field, can I still get involved or express interest in future work?

While formal participation is closed, you are welcome to contact the team if you are a clinician or researcher interested in contributing to future work related to the COS. Please email us at gendercos@amsterdamumc.nl.

How were participant contributions used?

Feedback from participants in the surveys and consensus meeting was central to shaping the final COS. Your input directly determined which outcomes were prioritized and included, especially in ensuring the COS reflects what truly matters to people undergoing surgery.

When will the final tools and timelines be available?

The COS will be published shortly. Once consensus on OMIs and assessment timing is reached, the full recommendations will be shared through additional academic publications. The GenderCOS team is dedicated to publish exclusively open access, so all results will be freely available.
