Over the summer, the third and final Delphi survey round was completed, with many participants contributing their valuable insights.
On the 6th and 13th of September, the Consensus Meetings for the Masculinizing and Feminizing Genital Gender-Affirming Surgery Core Outcome Sets took place. In these meetings, Lived Experience Experts and Professional Experts collaborated to reach consensus on the final Core Outcome Sets. To ensure fairness and open discussion, an independent facilitator moderated the meetings, giving everyone an equal opportunity to share their thoughts and views.
We have now successfully established the Core Outcomes that should always be measured as a minimum in research into genital gender-affirming surgery. The GenderCOS project team is grateful for the participants' efforts and the outcome of the meetings. The next phase of the GenderCOS project will focus on determining how and when these outcomes should be measured.
Once the final Core Outcome Sets are published (in open-access scientific journals), they will be available to all, with more information to follow on this website in due course.
This marks an important step toward standardizing research in genital gender-affirming surgery. Stay tuned for the next phase!
